I use the propagation cups myself as a semi-hydro culture propagation methode. I have experimented with this and in my experience it works very well. The roots look for water on the bottom of the Clay Pebbles and become thick and fuzzy.
I make sure that the Sphagnum Moss dries out a bit in between, so I do not leave water in the cup all the time.
Please note: My average temperature is around 25 degrees. In the average living room this is different so you will have to experiment with watering yourself.
